Dr Celia Taylor

Dr Celia Taylor trained in Forensic Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry in London and in 1995 went on to work as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, and Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Broadmoor Hospital. She then established a medium secure personality disorder service in the private sector, before moving to East London NHS Foundation Trust in November 2003 to establish Millfields Unit on the campus of the John Howard Centre in East London. This is one of three national pilot medium secure “Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder” centres initiated by the Ministry of Justice and Department of Health. Millfields runs a day release Postgraduate Certificate course in “Psychosocial Practice: Working Effectively with Personality Disorder”, in collaboration with the University of East London. More recently Celia has led the service to become part of the London Pathways Partnership (LPP), which is a consortium of four mental health trusts. LPP runs a pan-London service to probation officers with high-risk personality-disordered offenders on their case loads, and a 42-bed personality disorder unit in HMP Belmarsh. Celia is also one of the senior LPP clinicians developing a 162-bed personality disorder treatment service at HMP Swaleside. She is the current immediate past President of the International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy. Dr Celia Taylor
