The Late Professor Gill McGauley; MB BS, MD (Res), FRCPsych, PGCert HE

Gill McGauley was a Consultant in Forensic Psychotherapist and Professor of Forensic Psychotherapy and Medical Education. She worked clinically for Central and North West London Foundation NHS Trust where she developed and delivered psychotherapy services for women with a personality disorder in HMP & YOI Holloway and HMP & YOI Bronzefield. She previously worked at Broadmoor where she established the first forensic psychotherapy service in a high secure hospital. She had developed national and international training and educational initiatives in forensic psychotherapy as Chair of the National Reference Group for Training and Education in Forensic Psychotherapy and through her work for the International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy. She worked academically at St George's University of London where she was Head of The Centre for Clinical Education. She was co-editor of the textbook 'Forensic Mental Health; concepts, systems and practice'. Her research focused on the application of Attachment Theory and the development of psychological therapies such as Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) for personality-disordered offender patients. In 2009 she was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy in recognition of individual excellence in teaching in the UK. Professor Gill McGauley
